I can always count on this author to deliver an enjoyable, steamy read. There is even a little bit of suspense. I wondered how the book would end and I really loved the epilogue.Alec had been in hell for the past few years and he is finally home. He found out who was responsible for that hell and he wants revenge. There isn’t a thing that can stop him, until he meets Piper. He wants Piper from the moment he sees her, but his charms don’t work on her. Piper thinks that Alec is hiding something and that his story isn’t true, but she can’t keep her distant from him. She can’t imagine him being bad. Piper and Alex keep running into each other and they become friends.
If you have read Hard Seal, than you already know Alec. I’m happy that I got his story and I think he fell in love with the right woman. Piper makes him feel comfortable and that will make him confess everything about his past. Alec wants to be a better man for Piper. Alec is damaged, mysterious, determined and strong. Piper is strong, determined and caring. She isn’t happy with her new job. She realizes that something isn’t completely right and will do anything to investigate it. She works hard and is very focused. Piper can stand her ground.
I was really doubting between giving this book 4 and 5 stars, but I didn’t really feel the connection between Piper and Alec at the beginning. Piper was cold and distant and Alec only wanted one thing. I didn’t really feel it until there were together for some time and it was obvious that they had fallen in love.

Dead men tell no tales.

After enduring years of imprisonment and torture, he is back home in for Chicago seeking revenge. Once his final mission is complete, he’ll disappear again and start his life over. He rents a dive apartment, only planning to be there for a few days, doesn’t bother to purchase furniture and spends his days and nights focused on and preparing to exact his vengeance.
Alec doesn’t expect to bump into a tough, sexy woman in the hall of his apartment and when she turns him down flat, he thinks it’s likely for the best. He can’t stick around anyways. He’s even more relieved that they didn’t hook up, when he finds out that she’s a cop. A cop who is now directly responsible for protecting the cretin that Alec is out to destroy.
It seems like an impossible match, but as they start to spend some time together, Alec finds that he’s not as eager to leave town as he initially was. He looks forward to spending time with Piper and can’t stop thinking about her. She distracts him from his game plan, but instead of calling off his revenge, he simply postpones it.
What happens when Piper, a woman sworn to serve and protect, finds out that the man she is falling for is masterminding a violent crime? Can Piper and Alec keep their work lives separate from their sex lives? How can they even contemplate a future together when technically, Alec doesn’t exist? Presumed dead, killed in action. No ID. No paperwork. No hope for a future?
Very sexy, suspenseful seal love story. I loved that Piper was a strong woman and that she made Alec work to get to know her. Alec and Piper together were super-hot and the story ends with a very happy ending.
Standalone, but weaves in follow up storylines for Elena and Tanner from Hard Seal. That book is also awesome, so I’d recommend reading it first and then jumping into this one!
No cliffhanger. Happily ever after. Told from alternating POVs.

Jessica did great with this one. You get to see some familiar faces if you read 'Hard SEAL'. This is a complete standalone. Alec is a SEAL & has been a prisoner for the last five years. He was finally saved but everyone in the United States think he is dead. He is back for revenge on the person who got his friends killed & him a prisoner. He was able to get back in the U.S. & is back home. He wasn't planning on meeting Piper & wanting her so much.
Piper is police officer & ends up selected to be a bodyguard for the senator. He has been getting death threats & picks Piper. This is the man Alec is wanting to kill. As he & Piper get closer his thirst for revenge starts to wane, but he doesn't want his friends deaths to be in vain. He has also been lying to Piper about who he really is & that is also taking a toll on him. He can't tell her his feelings since he might die, be in jail or have to leave forever. If he tells Piper the truth will she arrest him or forgive him for his lies & hope he won't carry out his plan for revenge? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Jessica did a good job. What will a person do for love of his friends he lost & the woman he falls for?
”Dirty Seal” is the explosive follow-up to “Hard SEALl”! It’s a standalone story but is definitely a treat for all readers who read and loved “Hard SEAL”. As I did! The story has a hero (Alec) who has the distinction of someone coming back from the dead! Yes, you heard me right! And no, this is not a story about a supernatural hero! All will become clear when you read the story! Alec is man on mission that he refuses to be swayed from….That is until he comes across Piper, the pint-sized and feisty cop who lives in the same apartment block as him. Alec’s mission steadily becomes less important as Piper gets under his skin and makes him reassess what is important in his life. Vengeance for the dead or the love of a woman that he can’t resist?
Prepare yourself for absolutely -melting romance scenes, suspense and vibrant characters in this story. The inclusion of characters from “Hard SEAL” is something to look forward to for readers who enjoyed that story. Add in fun moments with witty dialogue to this winning formula and you get another story that you won’t be able to put down until the last page! I especially enjoyed the descriptions of the rivalry between the British SAS and the SEALS! Hilarious!
